Are Pakistani Americans being denied visas to visit their homeland?

Washington, D.C. - The Pakistan Embassy in the United States (US) has strongly refuted recent reports alleging that visas are not being issued to Pakistani-Americans looking to visit their homeland.

In an official statement, a spokesperson for the embassy stated, “These reports are entirely baseless," further emphasizing that these claims are part of a wave of misinformation and disinformation.

This response from the embassy comes on the heels of a question posed during a regular press briefing by the US State Department regarding the alleged denial of visas to Pakistani-Americans.

In response to the query, US State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel stated, “I’m not aware of any such issues. If there were any concerns in this area, it would fall under the purview of Pakistani consular officials and not the State Department. We'll leave it to them to address.”

The Pakistan embassy spokesperson went on to extend a warm invitation to Pakistani-Americans and other overseas Pakistanis, assuring them that they are encouraged to visit their home country. Additionally, the embassy highlighted its commitment to providing comprehensive consular assistance, including visas, to overseas Pakistanis.

"We strongly encourage Pakistani-Americans to consider visiting Pakistan, either utilizing their National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or applying for visas if they prefer. Visas can be obtained from the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington DC or from any of our Consulates General located in New York, Chicago, Houston, and Los Angeles. Moreover, visa requests can be conveniently processed online 24/7. Hence, there is no reason for any apprehension,” affirmed the embassy in its official statement.
