India Announces 15-Player Squad for ICC Men’s Cricket World
Cup 2023
New Delhi – On Tuesday, India revealed its formidable
15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which will
be hosted on home soil. The announcement was made by the Board of Control for
Cricket in India (BCCI) through a post on the social media platform X, formerly
known as Twitter.
In a significant development, KL Rahul's inclusion in the
squad has grabbed the headlines. He has been declared fit and ready to
participate in the World Cup, setting the stage for an exciting opener against Australia
in Chennai on 8th October, as reported by the ICC in its blog.
The tournament is set to kick off with a highly anticipated
clash between the defending champions, England, and New Zealand on 5th October
at the illustrious Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The final Group Stage
match will feature England facing off against Pakistan at the iconic Eden
Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.
As per the official schedule, the first semi-final is
scheduled for Wednesday, 15th November, in Mumbai, followed by the second
semi-final the following day in Kolkata. Both semi-finals have been allotted
reserve days to account for any weather-related disruptions. The grand finale
is set to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 19th
November, with 20th November designated as the reserve day.
