Missing Imran Riaz Khan Case Updates

During a hearing at the Lahore High Court, it was revealed on Tuesday that no trace of TV anchor and YouTuber Imran Riaz has been found thus far, as reported by the Secretary of Defense and the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab. Imran Riaz was arrested at Sialkot airport on May 11 when he was about to leave the country. Although the police initially claimed that he was released, he never reached home and has been missing since then.

On May 16, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar informed BBC that Imran Riaz was arrested on May 11 and detained in jail. He provided a written statement assuring good behavior, which was also presented in court. However, Imran Riaz's whereabouts remain unknown.

After Imran Riaz's arrest and subsequent release, his family filed a missing person report, and on May 15, the Lahore High Court granted 48 hours for his recovery.

During the court hearing, the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court inquired about the reasons for Imran Riaz's continued disappearance. The Chief Justice also sought information regarding any reports from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior. In response, IG Punjab informed the court that the police have employed geo-fencing techniques but have been unable to locate any specific numbers. He expressed concern over the use of foreign numbers in Imran Riaz's case, particularly from Afghanistan, as the Punjab Police lacks the capability to trace numbers from that country.

The representative of the Secretary of Defense confirmed to the court that no trace of Imran Riaz has been found thus far. The Chief Justice clarified that his previous order did not indicate that Imran Riaz was with any agencies capable of locating him.

Following these arguments, the Chief Justice ordered the IG Punjab to meet him in chambers, after which he would issue a ruling in the case. In a previous hearing, IG Punjab Police Usman Anwar had informed the court that despite holding meetings with various agencies and contacting police forces across Pakistan, no one had any information about Imran Riaz's whereabouts. Imran Riaz's lawyer, Shahzeb
Masood, revealed to the media that CCTV footage presented in court showed him being forcibly dragged into a car.

Imran Riaz, a former TV host known for his programs on various channels, had gained popularity among supporters of Tehreek-e-Insaf and anti-army circles due to the content of his shows. However, his current situation remains a mystery, raising concerns about his well-being and location.
