of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9, led to violent protests and a subsequent mass departure of leaders from the party. Supporters and workers stormed and set fire to state installations throughout the country, causing extensive damage and resulting in at least 8 deaths and numerous injuries. In response, the coalition government suspended internet services and deployed army troops to restore law and order.

Following these unprecedented attacks on defense and public properties, a crackdown was initiated on the PTI to apprehend the individuals responsible for the vandalism. The top civil-military leadership of the country pledged to prosecute the rioters under relevant laws, including the Army Act. Consequently, several PTI leaders, including close associates of Imran Khan, have announced their resignation from the party, attributing the May 9 attacks on military installations to Khan's policies.
